Virginia Lou "Jenny" (Hill) Elkins

Virginia Lou “Jenny” Elkins, 75 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.  She was born in New Goshen, IN on June 7, 1946, to Ernest Hill and Helen Meadlo Hill.

Jenny was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in New Goshen and Terre Haute.  She also dedicated her time with various groups including the New Goshen Lions Club, New Goshen Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, the United States Postal Workers Union, and the Vermillion County Senior Citizens.

She was an avid reader of books, enjoyed watching birds outside the kitchen window, loving on her grandchildren, listening to Elvis Presley, collecting antiques, and most recently loved RV camping around the Midwest.

Jenny is survived by her loving husband and best friend Paul E. Elkins, Jr., whom she married on December 26, 1964, and their two sons, Scot Elkins (Lauren), and Kevin Elkins (Sara), as well as her seven grandchildren; Emily Elkins, Carter Elkins, Lily Elkins, Eli Elkins, Lorelei Elkins, Maxwell Elkins, and Jack Elkins.  Also surviving is a sister, Barbara Freeze (Joe), and a brother, Chalmers Hill, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with her wishes, a private family service was held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.  Burial was at Rosehill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the New Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, the New Goshen Lions Club, or the charity of choice, in her memory.
