Ray A. Kernstein

West Terre Haute

Ray A. Kernstein, 82 of West Terre Haute, passed away at 5:05 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Union Hospital.  He was born in New Goshen on May 31, 1938 to James Robert Kernstein and Florence E. Wilson Kernstein.

Ray was a member of Laborer’s Local # 204 and worked several years for White Construction.  He loved to build and fabricate different things.

Ray is survived by six children; Timothy L. Kernstein, Linda Kay Harvey, Robert E. Kernstein (Maryann), Brian K. Kernstein, Brent E. Kernstein (Deborah), and Raylene Kernstein.  He is also survived by a brother, Eddie Kernstein, as well as ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn Scott Kernstein, a son, Chuck R. Kernstein, three brothers; Don Kernstein, Mitch Kernstein, and Bob Kernstein, as well as two sisters, Eula Mae Kernstein and Eva Kernstein.

Funeral services for Ray will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
