James E. "Jim" Brown

James E. “Jim” Brown, 93, formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  He was born in West Terre Haute on July 26, 1928 to Rev. Archie Brown and Stella Akers Brown.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as Sr. Vice President at First Financial Bank after 44 years of service, and served on the Board of Directors at First Financial Bank in Brazil, IN.  His memberships include Salt of the Earth Worship Centre, Board member of the Lighthouse Mission, member and Past President of the Terre Haute Realtors, Board member of the Assembly of God Church in West Terre Haute, Board member of the Assembly of God North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN, and Board member of John’s Dental Lab.

Jim is survived by his wife Wilma Kuykendall Brown whom he married June 12, 1955 and their two daughters, Karen Cork and Janice Simmons (husband Tom).  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Ryan Cork (wife Andrea), Halee Kaperak (husband Landis), and Caleb Simmons (wife Bree), as well as great grandchildren; Ethan Cork, Jackie Cork, Isabelle Kaperak, Stella Kaperak, and Jett Simmons, as well as one nephew.  He was preceded in death by his brothers; Archie, Harold, Paul, and Earl.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM, with Dr. Keith Gaddis officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, in his memory.
