Jack D. Flowers, 86, of New Goshen, Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. After many years of service, Jack retired as a supervisor/office manager from Public Service Indiana (Duke Energy). Jack was born August 9, 1933 in Dennison, Illinois to Oscar Flowers and Goldia Askren Flowers. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Houser Flowers whom he married on March 28, 1957 in Terre Haute; two daughters: Tammy Coons (Rob) and Dee Ann Flowers; five grandchildren Justin Flowers (Paige), Kimbra Shaffer, Lindsay Pullen (Nick), Lauren Coons, and Lindsey Goldman (Tylor); three great-grandchildren Lillian Pullen, Reese Payne, and Xaviar Coons; two sisters-in-law Doris Flowers and Mary Flowers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters Marion White, Madeline Edwards, Mary Goodwin, and Lena Walker; and three brothers Lemmie Flowers, Charlie Flowers, and Bill Flowers. He was a 27-year charter member and past president of the West Vigo-New Goshen Lions Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to be outdoors doing yard work or tinkering in the garage. Jack was a truly remarkable man and accomplished so many great things in his life. He is dearly loved, and he will be forever missed. In honor of Jack’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. A friends and family gathering will be planned at a later date. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
