Donald Edward Blair, 82, of West Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 in his West Terre Haute home. He was born in Seelyville, IN on August 6, 1937 to Glen H, and Pauline F. Blair. Don spent his final week sharing laughter, tears, hugs, and kisses with his Grandkids, Kids, and wife. Don had battled cancer, for 16 years and beaten it into remission 4 previous times.
Don’s values were focused on family and respect for hard work. He was a fierce protector and defender of his family/friends and he perfected the concept of open and honest communications. He was retired from Tredegar, Alcan, Don Blair’s Wrecker Service, and Vigo County. He often worked multiple jobs simultaneously to provide for his loved ones and continued to work full time at the Vigo County Annex until he was 81 years old. He prided himself on the success of his Kids/Grandkids and quietly provided many gifts to those in need.
Don was a competitor at heart. He was a graduate of Concannon High School where he was known for his athletic skills. He coached many local youth in basketball and baseball. He rarely missed one of his Kids/Grandkid’s athletic events and sat as close to the action (and umpires/referees) as he could! If not at his family’s events, he could be found watching the St. Louis Cardinals with Carolyn, boating, or Fishing.
Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn, whom he married on August 21, 1959. They built a beautiful life of over 60 wonderful years, which included two daughters, Terry (Tim Weer) and Penny (Greg Aff); and one son, Don (Michelle) Blair all of West Terre Haute. He was blessed with five grandchildren; Drew (Angela) Aff, Dylan Aff, Kaleb (Jorden) Blair, Alec Blair, and Alyssa Blair. His is also survived by his Sister, Dorothy Cosby, and many friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Glen H. Blair and Pauline F. Blair.
