Danny Lee Harris, born August 20, 1947 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Marcell Harris and Genevieve (Jean) Cooper Harris, died on January 14, 2020 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Danny served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam era. After discharge, he schooled for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 157 and was a 48 year member.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Karen Norris Harris; sons, James Harris (Bridget) of Chicago, Illinois, Merrick Harris (Angie) and Danny Harris II (Tina), all of Terre Haute; daughters, Jennifer Quakerbush (Rene Breault) of Sterling, Connecticut and Grace Vest(Joe) of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. And also the lights of his life, his sixteen grandchildren, Justin, Adam, Ashley, Olivia, Madison, Joshua, Jocelyn, Zach, Matthew, Gabby, Andrew, Jayden, Michael, Nicholas, Amelia and Allison. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Diana and J.L. Powell.

Danny was a recipient of a heart donation on March 1, 2009 and would like all to consider becoming a donor.

Danny was a very smart, loving husband, father, and friend, who had a very generous spirit. He would like, in lieu of flowers, for donations to be made to either Providence Food Pantry in West Terre Haute or 14th and Chestnut Community Center in Terre Haute. Envelopes will be available in the rear of the church.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Village Church, St. Mary’s-of-the-Woods, Indiana. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Father Darvin Winters and Sister Joan Slobig will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow services in Galvin Hall next to the church.
