William A. Shadden, Sr.

William A. Shadden, Sr., 94 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 8:55 PM in his residence.  He was born in Rockwood, TN on November 12, 1925 to Lawrence Alexander Shadden and Nora Elizabeth Waldo Shadden.

William was a truckdriver for Local # 710 in Chicago, IL, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in World War II.  He was a lifetime member of VFW Post # 6574 in West Terre Haute, American Legion Post # 501 of West Terre Haute, and the Young Men’s Club of West Terre Haute.

William is survived by five children; Charles Shadden, William Shadden, Jr., Nora “Nodie” Hill, Jackie Hugg, and Tammy Barnhart.He is also survived by a brother, Jack Shadden, and sister, Lois Shadden, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mable Thomas Shadden in 2014, and his children; Connie Barnhart, Terry Shadden, Bob Baugh, Barney Baugh, Marian Rose Wilson, and Ruthann Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at VFW Post # 6574, 608 National Ave., West Terre Haute, IN on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 3:00 PM.  In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen, with burial of his ashes at a later date at Bethesda Memorial Park.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN.
