Virginia Lou Morgan, 93 of Marshall, IL, and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 in her residence.  She was born in Marshall, IL on March 25, 1931 to Glenn Wright and Edith Miller Wright.

Virginia a member of First Christian Church of Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1949.  She was a student at MHS when a tornado destroyed the school and all that remained was the gym.  She remembered that all classes were held in the basement, first and second floor classrooms at the gym, which later would be referred to as the girls’ gym, and later would go on to work as a secretary for Marshall Schools for 20 years.  After retirement, she worked at Regional Hospital for 25 years Volunteering and helping where needed.

Virginia loved crossword puzzles and had an extensive vocabulary.  She also loved dancing, especially with Brandon Halleck at the Dance Studio in Terre Haute.  She appeared in 8 dance reviews, the last at age 88, and the east coast swing was her favorite.  She could be found dancing every Friday night at the VFW in Terre Haute and every Saturday night at the Terre Haute Moose Lodge, where she was a member of both organizations, as well as the Eagles Lodge of Terre Haute.  She loved gardening and had a beautiful floral perimeter around her yard, and enjoyed sewing gowns for infants and purchasing toys for children at the hospital.  Virginia was also an accomplished artist, having painted many beautiful oil paintings.

Virginia is survived by four children; Harry Morgan (Madel) of Broomfield, CO, George Morgan of Martinsville, IL, Julie Stottler of Tampa, FL, and Connie Barnhart of Marshall, eight grandchildren; Jamie Morgan (Megan), Alex Morgan (Amy), Vanessa Morgan, Hasty Beshaw, Robert Beshaw, Jennifer Crawford (Kelly), Jordan Vincent (Caleb), and Jadelyn Barnhart, twelve great grandchildren; Ava, Neva, and Nevaeh Morgan, Skylar and Jackson Morgan, Josie Lee and Ava Marley Casillas, Kiana, Tevin, Remington Jo, and Brexleigh Crawford, and Doss Vincent.  She is also survived by three great great grandchildren; Bjorn, Sigurd “Si”, and Thorfinn Morgan, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by 8 siblings, as well as 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church, 902 N. 6th St., Marshall, IL 62441 on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 12 Noon (CST), with Pastor Steve Kelly officiating.  Burial will follow in Auburn Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon in the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
