Thomas A. Barnhart, Sr.

Thomas A. Barnhart, Sr., 75 of West Terre Haute, passed away at 6:12 PM on Monday, May 31, 2021 in Union Hospital.  He was born in Terre Haute on July 24, 1945 to Max A. Barnhart and Mildred Howard Barnhart.

Tom was a brakeman for Milwaukee Railroad, and had also served as a West Terre Haute police officer and as a West Terre Haute volunteer fireman.  He was a member of the Werst Terre Haute American Legion Post # 501 and The Young Men’s Club.

Tom is survived by three children; Tammy Barnhart, Tina Barnhart and Thomas E. Barnhart.  Also surviving is a sister, Mary Lou Wallace, and two brothers, Tim Barnhart and Max Barnhart as well several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas Barnhart, Jr. and a sister, B. Joan Rogers.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
