Sheila Kay Hagar (Chesshir) , born to Dinah Kay Chesshir on November 15, 1961 in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Though born in Terre Haute, Sheila moved from Indiana at a young age and made her home in Bakersfield, California.
It was in Bakersfield that she built her life and raised her two beloved children, Angela and Wes. Sheila’s greatest joy was her family and her faith. Sheila was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren: Jr, Joe Richard, Jolie, Jesse, and Ryleigh. She adored each one of them and found immense joy in being their grandmother.
She loved Jesus deeply and lived her life as a reflection of His love — always kind, compassionate, and willing to help anyone in need. Sheila was known for her warm heart and unwavering care for everyone around her. Whether through a listening ear, a thoughtful prayer, or a bright smile, she made every person she met feel valued and loved. She had a gentle spirit and a strong faith that brought comfort and encouragement to others.
Sheila will be remembered for her devout love for the Lord, her selflessness, and her ability to find beauty in life’s simple moments. She treasured her family above all and built a home filled with love, warmth, and faith in California.

She is survived by her children, Angela and Wes; her daughter-in-law, Kimberley; her grandchildren Jr, Joe Richard, Jolie, Jesse, and Ryleigh; and her brother, Jeff Martin (Susan), nephews Darrik Martin (Chelsea,) Bryce Martin (Morgan) and a wealth of aunts, uncles, cousins.
She is deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life, with details to be shared with family and friends.
