Sarah Beatrice Switzer, 87, of West Terre Haute went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 13 December 2025. She was born April 9, 1938, to Herman and Mary Barbee in Vigo County.

She is survived by her children, Stephen (Jeanie) of Terre Haute, Raymond (Catherine) of San Antonio, Texas, Michael (Ann Marie) of West Terre Haute, Larry (Annette) also of West Terre Haute. Grandchildren; Stephanie, Vincent, Stevie, Kristina, Robin, Matthew, Angela, Jason, Warren, Hannah, and Chris and their spouses. And many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom and Joe Barbee of Jasonville, Indiana and her devoted sister Bertha Julian of Terre Haute. And several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Herman and John Barbee, and her sister Mary (Dotz) Barbee.

Sarah was a lifelong resident of West Terre Haute and attended Sixth Street Wesleyan Church. She worked for Vigo County School Corporation at West Vigo Elementary, Middle School and High School. She retired as the Cafeteria Manager at West Vigo High School. She always made sure the children had a good meal to learn with. After retirement she enjoyed life with her husband and favorite dogs Bella, Bear and Sweetpea. She lived a life well lived, mixed with hard work and play. Travelling to Florida, Minnesota, and Canada with her young family as they grew up and then continued her travels to many places across the United States. Sarah enjoyed shopping, gardening and taking care of her flowers.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Nurse Renee Hart of Heart to Heart Hospice, her aide Renee Dennis, and Dr. Antwan Mardini for their compassionate care and support.

Burial at Bethesda Cemetery with private graveside services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society in Sarah’s name. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
