Sarah Renee Adkins

Sarah Renee Barnes Adkins, 34, of Terre Haute, passed away June 2, 2026, in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born October 26, 1991, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to David Barnes and Phyllis Joan Chambers Barnes. She was a member of the Bible Holiness Church since childhood. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Tennessee, Myrtle Beach, and Kansas, spending time with her family, and working with children. She also enjoyed listening to music and having people sing. She loved giraffes, the color purple, and pickles.

She studied at Indiana State University, received her master’s degree in behavioral studies from Ball State, in 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Mary L Chambers, grandfather, Burt L Chambers, and an Uncle Burt Chambers Jr.

She is survived by her husband, William Adkins (m. 7/26/2024), sister Marissa Mahin (Douglas) of Concordia, Kansas, nephews, Camdyn, Jasper, Robert, Greyson and Westin, aunts and uncles Terry Chambers (Diana) Linda Chambers Baker (Russell) Nancy Chambers Knew (Mark) Mike Chambers (Donna),along with several cousins.

Services for Sarah will be Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home at 1 pm with a visitation from 11 am to service time. Brothers Paul Bates and Wendell Kirkman will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
