Robert Engles, Sr., 89 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Daviess Community Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute on December 24, 1932, to Frank Engles and Helen Cummins Engles.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Air force, having served in the Korean War, and was a lineman with GTE. His memberships include West Terre Haute American Legion post #501 and the West Terre Haute V.F.W. Post #6574. Robert loved gardening, mushroom hunting, playing the banjo, and even pursuing new and exciting hobbies.

His survivors include: his daughter, Susan Engles, his 3 sons, Mike Engles, Rob Engles, and Frank Engles, his sister, Elisha Sulieman (Sulieman), his brother, Bill Downing, his 6 grandchildren, Terri Richardson (Paul), Tammy Landis (Melissa), Emma Dungeon, Mathew Engles, Elizabeth Engles, and Robert Hall, as well as 14 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn Worthington Engles, his sister, Terri Engles, his brother, Wayne Engles, and his 2 grandchildren Abigail Davids and Christopher Davids.

Funeral Services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN, at 2pm on Saturday, October 1, 2022, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. Military honors will be performed.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 12pm – 2pm in the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow services.
