Rebecca Lynn Carpenter

Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Thomas (Haase) Carpenter lost her hard-fought battle with cancer on June 9, 2026. She fell asleep and passed peacefully in the home she shared with her beloved Bill near Cagles Mill Lake in Poland, Indiana. She was 64 years old. She was born to Betty and Edgar Thomas on February 13, 1962. The second oldest of five children, she was a 1980 Graduate of West Vigo High School. She married Brian Haase in 1979, and they share three boys. She was married to Jay Carpenter in 1995. She had been with her long-time companion and partner, Bill Kessler, since 2018.

She was bubbly, fun-loving, and so young at heart. She loved to sew, read, and paint. She enjoyed it when her boys told her “blonde” jokes and often pretended to take offense, even though she secretly loved them. She also enjoyed every moment she and Bill spent together, as he was the love of her life.

She is survived by her children: Edgar “Brandon” (Candice) Haase, their children Katelyn (Chris) Ruley and Evan (Allison) Haase, and their son Dean. Kelby (Elizabeth) Haase and their children, Isabel and Bailey. Rosco (Barbara) Haase and their children, Aiden (fiance Chloe) and their son Roman, Zachary, and Huey. Sisters Joni (Jay) Hooper, Lisa (Jim) Thornton, and Shelly (Jim) Pickard.

She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, her mother, Betty (Edington) Thomas, and her brother, Russell Thomas. She will be cremated and put to rest in her mother’s garden at her parents’ rural West Terre Haute residence at a time yet to be announced. You may add a perennial flower or plant to the garden in her memory after the private celebration of life is held.
