Peggy Jayne McCarty

Peggy Jayne McCarty (Forster), 65, of West Terre Haute, went to be with Jesus on July 24, 2026, after 8 years of cancer treatments.

She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to Ernie and Lorene Forster on November 11, 1960. She attended West Vigo High School where she enjoyed her time as a Vikette. She also attended Brown County High School and Columbus East High School while her family ran their KOA Campground. After graduation, she moved back to West Terre Haute. She loved ministering to her community through her career at The Open Door Christian Bookstore for over 40 years. She was an active member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church where she served and loved the Lord alongside her church family for over 44 years. During her time there, she faithfully served in multiple capacities such as Vacation Bible School, Awana club, children's programs, carnivals, community outreach events, and many more. She enjoyed sewing, reading, candy making, and taking family vacations. Most of all she loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her granddaughters Wren and Madelyn. She is there waiting for her husband of 45 years Gary McCarty, her four children, Jana Strain (Chris), Scott McCarty, Aaron McCarty (Kelsey), Kayla Williams (Shawn), parents Ernie and Lorene Forster, siblings Ron Forster (Diana), Ernie Forster (Debbie), Barbara Beaver (Mick), and Phyllis Schlageter (Bob), and nine grandchildren Chase, Reece, Kelly, Matthew, Reagan, Ethan, Lynlee, Tyler, and Willa, her special in-laws and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home. Services will be held in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in West Terre Haute on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11 am, followed by a graveside service at Pleasantview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sugar Creek Baptist Church's Awana Club.
