In loving memory…

Paul Alan Winslow of West Terre Haute, Indiana passed away at 72 years of age on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Union Hospital.

Paul was born in Gary, Indiana at St. Mary’s Mercy Hospital on June 10, 1953 to Marian Virginia Andree and Ralph Henry Winslow. He was the second-born of four children. Paul graduated from Hobart High School in 1971. He went on to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana where he studied psychology and political science, graduating with Bachelor degrees in both majors in 1975.

As a young man, Paul collected political memorabilia—posters, buttons, and the like. He had a curious mind, and nurtured a life-long appreciation and interest in history. He was an avid reader, he followed the news, and he enjoyed classical music. He studied psychology and political science, not to pursue them as careers, but because he valued education and learning.

Paul was a compassionate man, and lived a life of service to his family. He never married, nor did he have children of his own, but he stayed connected to his three brothers and their families, as well as his cousins, aunts, and uncles.

In the late 1980s, Paul moved to West Terre Haute, leaving his position as a Respiratory Therapist in Ohio. He lived with his maternal grandmother, June White Andree and his aunt, Joanne Andree. Paul assumed the role of caring for the family’s 16-acre property, tending the garden, and caring for the home alongside his aunt Joanne, a nurse. While Joanne worked outside the home, Paul looked after the needs of his bedridden adopted cousin, Charles Worthington, or Charlie. When his grandmother’s health began declining, he cared for her at home until she passed in April, 1989.

Paul lived a life of service to his beloved family, caring for Charlie until he passed in 1990 at the age of 32. When his mother was suffering the effects of cancer and moved to Terre Haute to be closer to family, he cared for her until she passed away in 1991. When Joanne’s health declined, he cared for her as well under her death in January 2016.

Paul will be fondly remembered for always taking time to play cards and board games with family during visits—he was quite good at Trivial Pursuit and taught many to play Canasta. He was often seen with a camera, taking photos when traveling, of their property, pets, and family. He enjoyed the quiet peace of photographing nature, commenting that it brought him a great deal of joy. Paul was quite witty and always had something to say with a big grin on his face. Quick to comment with sage advice such as, “always cook all of the bacon.” While a bit irreverent, that one still brings smiles when cooking bacon.

Paul is survived by his three brothers—Ralph Winslow and his wife Deborah, William Winslow, and C. John Winslow and his wife Jane; nieces and nephews—Jennifer Rosato, Robert Winslow and his wife Megan, Kristina Winslow and her wife Erika, Allison Winslow, and Cameron Winslow; and great nieces and nephews—Marley, Solomon, Sage, and Henry. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Joanne, and his cousin Charlie.

According to his wishes, cremation was chosen. A celebration of life for Paul will be held at 3pm on Saturday, November 22 at The Strand Theatre, 215 South Harrison Street in Shelbyville, Indiana, with Reverend Perry Samuel Richards, retired Pastor from West Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, presiding.

Paul will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana.
