Paul E. Clark

July 19, 1938 — July 6, 2023

West Terre Haute

Paul E. Clark left this world peacefully on July 6, 2023, surrounded by family and love.

Paul was born in Terre Haute, IN on July 19, 1938 to Joseph C. Clark and and Wilma Ann Minnich Clark. He graduated from Concannon HS in 1956. He enlisted in the US Navy directly after graduation.

Horses were a love his whole life. He became a farrier after graduating from Oregon State University Farrier program with his brother Dick. He especially loved shoeing harness horses. He worked for JICase for many years as a welder and could build anything from metal. He retired from Southwest Research Institute of San Antonio in 2000, where he worked as Supervisor of Air Quality Control on Johnston Atoll Chemical Disposal System until the project was completed and the plant closed.

Home for many years was a ranch in Saint Jo, Texas where he and Darla raised cutting horses and Bermuda grass. Impending illness prompted a move back to family in the W. Terre Haute area in 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Richard (Dick). Survivors include his wife Darla, sister-in-law Arlene, and brothers Larry Joe (Mary) and Jack W. (Glenda), daughter Lauri Haney (James), son Jesse, daughter Angela Kelsheimer (Rick) and grandchildren Cali Maean Clark, Taylor Brooke Clark, Lane Austin Clark, and Elaina Llewelyn.  He left many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the loving caregivers of Southern Care Hospice and of Harrison’s Crossing memory care unit.

Visitation will be at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd, West Terre Haute on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with service officiated by Dr. Tom Savage beginning at 1:00 pm.
