Patricia F. Britton Long, 90 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born in West Terre Haute on July 26, 1935 to Fred Britton and Agnes Harden Britton.
Patty is survived by three daughters; Pam R. Stultz (Tom), Karla J. Eldredge (Peyton), and Nikki A. McClain (Scott), and her grandchildren; Matt R. Stultz, Curt Stultz (Cari), Missy Kanizer (Eddie), Chris Eldredge, Jennie Scank (Steven), Robin Maurer (Rusty), Carlie Houser (Jake), Keagan McClain, Cogan McClain (Chey), and Molly McClain (Jacob). Also surviving are 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max Long whom she married October 30, 1954, daughter Cathy J. Fortner, 2 sisters, Judy Kennedy and Sue Lansaw, as well as her brother Kevin Britton.
Patty was a member of West Side Christian Church and retired as a cook at West Vigo Middle School. She made beautiful quilts and afghans and loved playing bingo at Northside Bingo with her special buddies Susan, Courtney, Shelby, and Max, but most importantly she loved being with her family.
Funeral services will be held at West Side Christian Church, 126 N. 8th St., West Terre Haute, IN on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Private burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Side Christian Church, in Patty’s memory. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jabbour and the compassionate nursing staff at Union Hospital for the exceptional care and kindness they provided. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
