Patricia Darlene Carter

Patricia Darlene "Patty" Carter, 73, of West Terre Haute went to be with the Lord at 5:00 a.m. Sunday June 18, 2017 from her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. She was born November 19, 1943 in Terre Haute to Willard Meeks and Emma jean Fields Meeks. Survivors include: Her Husband of fifty eight years, William Lee Carter Sr., whom she married on July 9, 1959 at Shawnee Town, Illinois; five sons William Lee Carter Jr. (Dee), John C. Carter, Joseph L. Carter Sr. (Janice), Robert L. Carter Sr. (Mike), and James C. Carter Sr.; two sisters Emma Jean Barnes and Vicki Larimer; twenty six grandchildren: Shaun, William III, Maranda, Kendall, Jamie, J.C., Kelli, Joe Jr., Jeremy, Victoria, Travis, Robert, Nichole, Jessie, Cassie, Trinity, Brayden, Ciera, Robbie Lee, James Jr., Patrick, Mariah, Abby, Jordan, Jhenna; thirty great grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way; Patty's special children Chris Wilbur, Floyd Cheesman Jr., Christel Cheesman, Amy Powers, Theresa Rogers, Don and Michelle Roberts, and Little Don Don; Special friends Margaret Cheesman and Carole Weir; special grandson Reese Wilbur; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law Renee Carter; a grandson Curtis Wayne England; a sister Jean LaRoche; and a life long friend Larry Willis. Patty was a member of the West Side Community Church at West Terre Haute. She loved the Lord and sharing the word of God. A Celebration Of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the West Side Community Church, 126 N. 8th St., West Terre Haute with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday in the church. According to her wishes, cremation was chosen. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Side Community Church. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
