Nancy Sue (Reed) Barnhart

Nancy Sue Reed Barnhart, 71 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in her residence.  She was born in Terre Haute on December 19, 1949 to Virgil Reed and Dorothy Cooper Reed.

Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and Indiana State University.  She was a lifetime member of the Young Men’s Club in West Terre Haute and was a member of the Indiana H.O.G. Riders Association, and was a correctional officer at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, and served as Vigo County Recorder from 1994-1996.

Nancy is survived by her two sons, Bill Barnhart, Sr. (Charlene), and Mike Barnhart, her sister, Mary Reed Martin, as well as her grandchildren; Geoff Hiett, Ashley Barnhart, William Barnhart, Jr. (Stormy), Brittany Barnhart, Cotey Barnhart (Katie), Zachery Doan, (Taylor), Breanna Doan, and Justin Doan, as well as 16 great grandchildren, and her best friend, Bethany Price.  On January 1, 1968 she married Terry Robert Barnhart and he preceded her in death in 1995.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet Reed Thompson as well as her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Shawn Bunch officiating.  Burial will follow in Dunlap Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 12 Noon until time of service in the funeral home.
