Mary P White

Mary P. White, 94, of Dennison, IL passed away Sunday November 6, 2016 at the Illinois White House in Dennison, IL. She was born July 13, 1922 to Margaret and Steve Puller of West Terre Haute, IN. She graduated from Fayette High School in 1940 and Wabash-Brown College of Commerce in 1941. In 1943, Mary joined the United States Navy, serving for eight and a half years, leaving as Chief Yeoman. She was a sixty five year member of the American Legion Post 90 and a long time member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church both in Marshall, Illinois. After leaving the Navy, she went to work for the Ordinance Depot in Terre Haute. She quit work in 1957 to become a full time housewife and mother. In 1948, she married Herbert "Whitey" White in Terre Haute, IN. They were married fifty seven years until his death on May 30, 2006. She worked and lived on the farm in Dennison for sixty eight years. Mary and Whitey traveled thru-out the United States visiting forty nine of the fifty states as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. They were both avid cribbage players. Mary is survived by her children: daughter and son-in-law Ingrid and Danny Hall of Portage, IN and son and daughter-in-law Eric and Deanna White of Dennison, IL; four grandchildren Rebecca Bosstel and her husband Robert, Jacob White and his fiancé Megan Stevens, Tara Najem and her husband Michael, and Teresa Ward and her boyfriend Terry; three great grandchildren Joshua Bosstel, Ethan Bosstel, and Zachary Bosstel; a sister in law Grace Puller and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Adam Pasko, Virgil Puller, and George Puller; and three sisters Katie Robinson, Betty Steppe, and Ann Flak. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home of West Terre Haute. Pay particular attention to times listed as both Indiana and Illinois times will be listed for various parts of her services. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. (Illinois time) Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church; 414 S. 6th St., Marshall, Illinois with Father Augustine Koomson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Marshall with Military Graveside Rites provided by the American Legion Post 90. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Indiana Time) Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation prior to services Friday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. (Indiana Time) followed by a prayer service and procession to the church.
