Mary Louise Heyen (Morris), 96, passed away at her home on July 3, 2026.
Mary was born on September 23, 1929, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Fred and
Opal Morris. She married the love of her life, Glen Heyen, in 1946, and together
they shared more than 50 years of marriage until Glen’s passing in July 1998.
Mary and Glen were blessed with one daughter, Linda K. Heyen (1947–2002).
Through Linda, Mary was the proud grandmother of Glen Allen Rukes (1963–
2015). Her legacy continues through her great-granddaughters, Mykka Rukes
and Charlsie Rukes, and her cherished great-great-granddaughter, Jozalynn
Roberts.
Mary worked as a mail clerk at Columbia Records, where her dedication and
strong work ethic reflected the values she carried throughout her life.
In the years following Glen’s passing, Mary was fortunate to find companionship
again. She shared many wonderful years with her beloved companion, Jim
Toney, who preceded her in death in 2020. Together they enjoyed spending their
winters at their home in Florida, traveling, dancing, making lifelong friendships,
and creating many treasured memories.
Those who knew Mary will remember her vibrant spirit, infectious smile, and
genuine kindness. She loved music and dancing and was always the life of the
party, bringing laughter and happiness wherever she went. Her caring heart,
compassionate nature, and unwavering love for her family and friends touched
countless lives. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and
valued, and she was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at
Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in West Terre Haute. Funeral services will begin at 1:00
p.m. with Dwayne Caldwell officiating.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no graveside service.
Though her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those
who went before her, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories,
unconditional love, and a legacy of kindness that will never be forgotten.
