Anglers beware - Marvin “Boney” Manley (83), joined the Anglers in heaven on Wednesday, August 1, 2024.
Marvin Manley was above all things an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. We celebrate the life of Marvin Manley born December 5, 1940 to Marguerite and Gilbert Manley. He was the third of five siblings. He had two older sisters, one surviving sister Mary Thompson (Bob Thompson), and two younger brothers, Paul Manley, and Gilbert (Sherry) Manley. His older sister and her husband, Janice (Don) Wishmier preceded Marvin in death.
Marvin married the Love of his Life, Janet Strain on December 23, 1965. Marvin Manley was proud of his twin sons Gary (Lori) Manley and Larry (Sharon) Manley. Marvin loved being with his family and especially loved being a grandfather. Marvin was blessed to have 5 grandchildren, Caleb (Brittany) Manley, Cody (Alexis) Manley, Mara (Noah) Long, Isaac Manley, and JohnMichael Manley (Caitlyn Jordan). And was blessed even more with three great grandchildren, Sadie, Ellie, and Jensen.
Marvin loved being with his family most of all, but FISHING was his joy! Marvin fished in the sun, he fished in the rain, he fished in the morning, and in the evening. He taught his children and grandchildren to enjoy the sport of fishing. He and Janet have built many memories together with their sons and grandchildren at Kentucky Lake.
Marvin proudly served his country for four years as an Air Force Military Police Officer.
Marvin worked at Alcan.
Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Visitation will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in West Terre Haute at 11:00 AM with services beginning at 1:00 PM. He will be buried at the New Vermillion cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to West Vigo High School Bass Fishing Club attention Kenny Pearson or West Vigo High School Athletic Department. Marvin loved to fish with his sons and his grandchildren and would be happy to see others find joy in the sport of fishing.
