Marcia A. Payne
Marcia A. Payne, 75, of West Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 21, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to the late Marjorie and Thomas Hogan.
Marcia married the love of her life, Jeffrey L. Payne, on February 1, 1986. Jeffrey preceded her in death. Together, they built a family that became the center of Marcia’s world.
Marcia was one of ten siblings with many nieces and nephews. She was a devoted mother to Jessica Payne, Paul Payne (Nicole Payne), Amanda Richards (Steve Richards), and Maegan Ringwald (Matthew Ringwald).
She was a proud grandmother to Bailey Miller, Mark Russ, Shelby Fiddler, Haley Clark, David Fiddler, Tyler Fiddler, Peyton Payne, Noelle Kauffman, Logan Payne, Dillon Payne, Hailey Richards, Jeremy Richards, Regan Amberger, Grayson Richards, Gavin Deighton, Blayden Ringwald, Halle Dixon, and Knox Dixon, as well as many great-grandchildren.
Marcia spent her life caring for and giving to the people she loved. She was a loan officer by profession, but her greatest role was that of mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. Countless days were spent at gyms and ball fields, cheering on her children and grandchildren, volunteering, and making sure she was there for every important moment.
She was known for her kind, loving, forgiving, and generous heart. Marcia had a way of making people feel loved and cared for, and she was truly the center of her family—the person who kept everything connected and helped make everything go round. Her home, her time, and her heart were always open to the people she loved.
As the years passed, her grandchildren became the center of her world. To them, she was affectionately known as Mimi. Being Mimi was one of the greatest joys of her life, and the love she shared with her grandchildren will remain a part of them forever. She created memories that will be carried on through generations.
Marcia’s presence in her family was immeasurable. She was the person they could count on, the person who showed up, the person who forgave, gave generously, and loved without conditions. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and her greatest legacy will be the love she gave to them.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in West Terre Haute, Indiana, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with a private graveside service to follow.
Though Marcia is no longer with us, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family she held so closely together will carry her memory forward. She will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be Mimi.
