Larry Alvin Knight

November 8, 1941 — October 7, 2023

Larry Alvin Knight, 81, of Paris, Illinois, passed away on October 7, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Larry was born to Elmer Alvin Knight and Wanda Louise (Barnhart) Knight on November 8, 1941. On April 4, 1964, he married Jennifer Edington, beginning a beautiful journey of more than five decades that touched countless lives.

Left to honor and remember him are his daughters, Lori Dowers, Kristi (Luis) Salazar, Sheri Knight (Brett Ramsey), Marci (Tom) Miller, and Jaymi Morgan (Dan Vandiver), honorary daughter Paula (Rob) Redmon, sister Kay Greenlee, brother Steve Knight, as well as sisters-in-law Greta Edington and Judy Neidlinger. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren; Danielle Sullivan (Jim Spesard), Shelby Knight (Jared McDaniel), Bre (Tom) Yeager, Kylie Knight (Freddy Kuhn), Ashley Warner (Jakob Housley), Alyssa Kispert (Connor Forster), Evan Kispert (Eryn Bartley), and Tristan Warner (Lexi Collins) and fifteen great-grandchildren; Ty, Luke, Kambre, Lincoln, Maxton, Cashlynn, Gentry, Whitley (on the way), Bryor, Gracelyn, Adken, Charles, Darious, Charlotte, and Delilah.

Larry’s memory will live on through his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Wanda, and his wife, Jenny.

Apart from being a devoted family man, Larry served in the United States Navy and retired from the Boilermakers' Local 374. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasons and the Shriners and attended the West Side Christian Church.

Larry’s sense of humor and optimism radiated throughout his life. During difficult times, he often reassured those around him by saying, "It'll be alright," a testament to his positivity. Additionally, Larry was known for his amusing catchphrase, "He had been around the world and Pensacola twice," which never failed to garner a chuckle. Struggling with the names of his daughters, he would affectionately refer to them as "Girl." Larry always instilled in them the belief that there was no such word as "can't." His words and attitude continue to inspire all who knew him.

For those who would like to join in the celebration of his life, visitation will be held Wednesday October 11, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm EST at the West Side Christian Church at 126 N 8th St, West Terre Haute, IN. Services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm EST until the time of service. The burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to West Side Christian Church in his honor would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.

Rest in peace, Larry. You will be missed and remembered.
