Jennifer Lynn (Edington) Knight

September 5, 1944 — May 4, 2019

Paris, Illinois

Jennifer Lynn (Edington) Knight, 74 of Paris, Illinois went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:20 pm, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on September 5, 1944 to Roy Edington and Carrie Lillian (Maddox) Edington.  Jenny married Larry Knight of West Terre Haute on April 4, 1964, which was the beginning of an amazing life that touched more people than either of them could have ever imagined.

Left to honor and remember her are her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Larry, daughters and partners in crime, Lori Dowers, Kristi (Luis) Salazar, Sheri (Brett Ramsey) Knight, Marci (Tom) Miller, and Jaymi (Dan Vandiver) Morgan, honorary daughter Paula Huffman, sister Judy Neidlinger, and brother-in-law Tom Winters.  She was also blessed with eight grandchildren; Danielle (Ryan) Sullivan, Shelby (Ted Fagg) Knight, Bre (Tom Yeager) Olinger, Kylie (Jordan Schoneck) Knight, Ashley (Tanner) Dubes-Cripe, Alyssa (Brice) Cannon, Evan Kispert, and Tristan Warner and  thirteen great-grandchildren; Ty, Kambre, Bryor ,Luke, Gracelyn, Cashlynn, Lincoln, Charlotte, Delilah, Adken, Gentry, Charles, and Darius.  She will also be forever remembered and loved by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lillian, sister Joann Winters, and brother Marvin Edington.

Jenny retired from Hamilton Center where she had been the Business Office Manager for 25 years, was a member of the West Side Christian Church, and class treasurer for the Garfield Class of 1962.

Jenny chose to view life as a Grand Adventure; whether that be a trip to the grocery store or a vacation with her family.  She always took the road less traveled, as there was so much to discover in this world!  She never knew a stranger and opened her house and her heart to everyone.  Jenny was a dazzling enigma with a quirky personality!  She was extremely competitive, so it is no surprise that she leaves us as the Gin Rummy Champion; Ship, Captain, Crew Master; and the all-time Left, Right, Center Winner.  Other favorites were Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, as long as you played by her rules!  She had a beautiful laugh that was severely contagious.  Jenny was happy by nature and always looked for the bright side in any situation, hence, she was our Sunshine.  She was fierce and feisty with a repertoire of one-liners that could make anyone blush.  Jenny loved to leave you speechless!  She was full of useful wisdom and life experiences.  She is, and will always be, the glue that holds her headstrong and stubborn family together.  In 2003, Larry and Jenny founded the Redneck Social Club. This was the scene for many great gatherings that brought friends and family together, where countless memories were made (some of which are a bit fuzzy).  Jenny also enjoyed attending NASCAR races, golf cart rides, boating on the Wabash River, gardening, and her hummingbirds.  She was proficient at cooking for an army and was a master baker.  Her Chocolate Cookie Sheet Cake was a specialty and family favorite that would occasionally spur fork stabbing outbreaks when supplies grew low.  Snickerdoodles were also a family favorite, with honorable mention going to her homemade yeast rolls.

For those who would like to join in the celebration of her life, services will be held at the West Side Christian Church at 126 N 8th St, West Terre Haute, IN, with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating.  Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm EST on Friday, May 10, 2019 and visitation 11 am to 2 pm EST with the funeral following at 2 pm EST Saturday, May 11, 2019. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to West Side Christian Church in her honor would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
