Janice Lee Mendenhall

Janice L. (“Dobby”, “Dob”) Mendenhall, 83, of Terre Haute passed into heaven while holding her sister Faye’s hand on August 1, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1941, to Joe Riley McDaniel and Laura Esther (Pine) McDaniel.

She was the heart of the family, the baker of yeast rolls, egg noodles and cakes, and she had a deep love for all family members, friends and her two dogs. By trade, she was a cosmetologist, a business owner and a dietary manager.

She is survived by siblings Faye Baize (Don) of Dugger and LV McDaniel (Deb) of Bloomington, a special person and father of her children, George Mendenhall of Owensburg, five children, Kenneth Mendenhall (Jennifer) of Bloomfield, Duane Mendenhall of Bloomfield (Kim Meikle), Mike Mendenhall (Debbie George) of Indianapolis, Lynette Kolcun (John) of Fishers, Andrew Mendenhall (Mel) of Mooresville, eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Joe Riley McDaniel, Charles Riley McDaniel, and Arnold Ray “Buddy” McDaniel; and three sisters; Wanda Lorraine Wolf, Virginia Lou Webber and Patricia Joan Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN 47885, on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Oricks officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 am until service time in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pleasantview Cemetery in Tecumseh, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
