James Richard Whitaker, Jr.

Today we do not mourn a death, instead we celebrate Heaven gaining an Angel. He was brought to this world on Tuesday, June 23rd, 1968 to James R. Whitaker, Sr. and Dorothy L. Whitaker.

He was survived by his children; Ashley Stevens, his grand dog Rosco, Brianna Akers, Cierra McBride (Joey McBride), Catrina Black (Major Black), Corbin Whitaker (Sonora Goodpastor). Also surviving is his father and his siblings; Jill Whitaker-Snodgrass (Joe Snodgrass), John Whitaker, and Jenny Whitaker-Miller (Rodney Miller), as well as his very best friend Amanda Whitaker and her loving mother Brenda Philpott, as well as his grandchildren; Ariella McBride, Joseph McBride, and his little buddy Asher. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy L. Whitaker, and his beloved sister Jamie Wiegand and his other Angels.

James was an adventurous person who loved spending time with his family and his grandbabies most of all. He was one of the most artistic, creative, fun spiritual, loving and happy humans you could have met. He could put a smile on anyone’s face no matter what they were going through, because he hated seeing anyone struggle if there was anything he could do about it. He absolutely loved making everyone happy and laugh. He lived a very rough life but he found peace and happiness with the people he loved in the end and with God most of all. Fly high Jim, you are our Guardian Angel on earth and in Heaven. We hope Heaven is treating you well, you will be so very loved and missed. We will always think about and cherish every second we all had with you! We love you Jimmy!

Funeral services will be held at The King’s Harvest Foursquare Church, 1801 Harding Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47802 on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
