Jack L Ross

Jack L. Ross, 92, of West Terre Haute, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023.

He was born Oct. 27, 1930, to Harold and Edith Ross of West Terre Haute. Jack is a graduate of the former Concannon High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life, Nancy, on the skating rink. They married May 15, 1954, in Paisley, Scotland – Nancy’s hometown – before settling and raising a family in West Terre Haute.

Jack worked as a milkman for the Borden Milk Company and was named their top salesman. At the same time, he built up Ross Farms-growing beans and corn and raising cattle. In 1977, he was named Conversation Farmer of the Year.

Jack was a member of the Scottish Rite and Wabash Valley Scottish Society. He also was a longtime member of St. George Episcopal Church in West Terre Haute.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 61 years, Nancy. He is survived by his four children: Jack (Sue) Ross, Vicki Fish, Harold Ross, and Scott (Stacy) Ross; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Gentiva Hospice for the kindness, sensitivity, and patience they showed to Jack, and for the support they gave his family as well, over the past few months.

The funeral for Jack is at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, at St. George Episcopal Church, 1337 Smith Pl, West Terre Haute, with Father William Wieland officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, at St. George Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Episcopal Church, 1337 Smith Place, West Terre Haute, and Gentiva Hospice, 4122 S. 7th St., Terre Haute.
