Harold Lee Harris

October 27, 1943 — August 25, 2017

Harold Lee Harris, 73, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 3:24am Friday, August 25, 2017, in his residence surrounded by family. He was born October 27, 1943, in Terre Haute, to Harold Lloyd Harris and Thelma Marie (Hedden) Harris. As a young man, Harold served in the United States Army Reserves. He worked many years at Chesty Potato Chips in Terre Haute and the Indiana Correctional Facility in Putnamville. In addition, he served 26 years as a volunteer fireman for the West Terre Haute Fire Department, now known as Sugar Creek Fire Dept. Harold loved the outdoors, spending time hunting deer and rabbits and fishing on the Wabash River with family and friends. He was a talented billiards player and an avid bowler, having accomplished a perfect 300 game. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cathy (Booker) Harris; two sons, Denny Harris and his wife Trisha and Rickey Kennedy Jr. and his companion Summer Willis; a brother, Chuck Harris (Jan); three sisters, Dorothy Chrisman (Jim), Myrna Hilton (Gene) and Sherry Morley (Carl); 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Veronica, and Shealynn Harris, Rickey III, Alexis, Kraig and Catie Kennedy, Otto Willis, Alex Walker and Tyler Melvin; an aunt, Shirley Hilton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Harris and Thelma (Hedden) Harris; a sister, Debbie Faye Harris; grandparents, Nathan and Nellie (Siverly) Hedden and Lilburn and Ada (Pead) Harris; and great-grandmother, Clara Hay Harris. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will be in Barnhart/Madden Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday.
