Everett W. Sullivan, 98, of West Terre Haute, passed away at home on October 4, 2021 with his children and grandchildren by his side.

He was born May 30, 1923 in Terre Haute to Patrick Sullivan and Lula Miller Sullivan.

Everett was the founder and operator for 48 years of Sullivan Complete Sewer and Septic. After his retirement in 2000, he enjoyed spending time with family, laughing and carrying on with them. He loved to watch westerns, especially John Wayne movies.  He had previously worked at Terre Haute Brewery and the Home Packing & Ice Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Village Church and a former member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church. Everett served in the United States Army’s 735th Tank Battalion in World War II, under General Patton, attached to the 3rd Army.  His unit was the first tank battalion thrown into the “Battle of the Bulge”, and his unit was one of the few outfits in Europe to receive all 5 Campaign awards.  Everett received two Purple Hearts, one Silver Star, Metal of Valor, and five Combat stars. Everett was a bow gunner in the Sherman Tank which was hit three different times and was wounded in action.  He was a life member of the VFW Post 972, serving on the Color Guard, a life member of the American Legion Post 346, and a member of the VFW Post 6574, as well as a member of the COOTIES.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Everett William Sullivan, Jr. and Randy Lee Sullivan, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Sullivan, as well as 12 brothers and sisters.

Everett is survived by the love of his life of 70 years and was together for 77 years, his wife, Mary Mae Christenberry Sullivan, whom he married June 2, 1952; and they were blessed with seven children, Karen Kendall (Jack), Michael Sullivan (Jacqueline), Terry Johnson (John), Everett Sullivan (Tracy), and Debby Springman (Keith); thirteen grandchildren, Christy Graves (Fred), Misty Kennedy, PJ Kennedy , John Johnson, Jr., Bruce Johnson, Randy Sullivan (Shelly), Joyell Decker (Steve), Brooke Busenbark (David), Michael Sullivan (Gabrielle), Keith Springman, Jr. (Jessica), Brandon Sullivan (Stacey), Everett Sullivan (Jodi), Haylee Nelson, and Kylee Fervida (Kevin), as well as 60 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Village Church, 3827 North Arms Place, St-Mary’s-of-the-Woods, Indiana 47876, with Father Fred Pasche officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rdStreet, West Terre Haute, Indiana, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  will be officiating; burial with military honors will be in Bethesda Cemetery.  The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, Angie, Angie, Ashley, and Tammi for the wonderful care given to Everett and his family.  Notes of condolence may be left at: www.fitzpatrickfunerals.com.
