Ertis "Ernie" Bragg

Ertis “Ernie” Bragg, 80, of Terre Haute, went home to rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord on June 28, 2018.

He was born in Vigo County on August 19,1937. He was the son of Kenneth and Ruth Bragg.

Ertis was retired from Stran Steel and ran his own transmission shop, Ernie’s Transmissions, for many years. He was a Master Mason of 54 years belonging to Twelve Points Lodge 769 and a member of the Scottish Rite of Terre Haute. He served in the Army Reserves as a young man. He was an avid pheasant and quail hunter. Ertis was well known throughout the community and always had a story and a smile for everyone he met.

Ertis is survived by four daughters, Christi Smith (Robert), Sonya Wright (Tom), Angela McCracken (Larry) and Jana Reed; one sister, Mary Ellen Long (Jim); and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rosalee Maher; and his spouse and the love of his life for almost 60 years, Vikki Mills Bragg. Theirs was a true love story.

In honor of Ertis’ wishes, cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held July 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Burnett Bible Church, 7600 East Devonald Ave., Terre Haute, Indiana 47805. Friends and family will be sharing memories and stories.  Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana was entrusted with care and arrangements.
