E. Louise (Younger) Arnold

West Terre Haute

E. Louise Arnold 84, of West Terre Haute passed away on June 19, 2023 in the Gibson Hospice Unit at Union Hospital under the care of the VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on April 8, 1939 to Raymond Nemo Younger and Anna Marie Towery. She was strong in her Catholic faith as a member of St. Mary’s Village Church. Louise loved her family and was a great correspondent chronically her family history with many photos. She made sure the family all received cards on birthdays and holidays. She was active in the Elks lodge holding office in San Manuel Arizona. She was active in the scouts and a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is proceeded in death by John E Arnold III, her husband of more than 55 years, her sister Bonnie Younger, her brothers Raymond Younger and Wayne Younger, and her grandson Andrew Arnold.

Louise is survived by her brother Larry Younger, her children John (Amy) Arnold, Doug (Kathy) Arnold, Beth (Dale) Auterson, Mary Lu (Greg) Thralls. Grandchildren Jonathon Auterson, Sam Arnold, Zachary Thralls, Emily Jacobs, Isaiah Thralls, David Auterson, Rachel Lozier, Kylie Arnold, James Gabbard, Amanda Montgomery, and 20 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial for Louise will be on Thursday June 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the St. Marys Village Church officiated by Father Darvin, with burial to follow in St Mary’s Village Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN, with a Rosary service at 7:00 PM.

The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the services.

Special thanks to Jane Frasier for her friendship throughout Louise’s illness and bringing communion when she could no longer attend Mass. Thanks to all the wonderful VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley staff for their generosity and special care of our mother, grandmother, and great grandma.  To celebrate Louise, the family encourages everyone to wear their favorite hat.
