Dusty Kay Dunkley, 51 of Clinton, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in Regional Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute on January 29, 1970 to Robert Dunkley and Duretta Sheese Kirkman.
Dusty was a registered nurse and treated every patient as if they were family. She loved to drive in her car with her music as loud as possible, and loved all things purple and glitter. She was always the life of the party and was always encouraging others, she would do anything she could for others, but above all else, she loved her grandkids.
Dusty is survived by her children; Chelsie Kernstein and Bub Kernstein (Hallie), her grandchildren; Myla Hancock, Tripp Kernstein, Hadleigh, and Vallorie. Also surviving is her father, Robert Dunkley, her siblings; Terry Gowan, Bobby Kirkman, Sis Grayless, and Bobby Dunkley, as well as best friends Sherry Tompkins, Belinda Elliott, and Cindy Mowbray, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Duretta Kirkman and the love of her life, Brian Kernstein.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Buddy White officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 5:00 PM until time of service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, in her memory.
