Douglas E. Keller, 63, born November 26th, 1962 to Arthur and Ann (Shields) Keller in Muncie, Indiana. Passed away March 16th, 2026 at 8 pm in Terre Haute, Indiana after losing a well fought battle with cancer.
Doug graduated from Cowan High School in 1981 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve soon after where he stayed for 2 years and 10 months before transferring to active duty Air Force in December 1983.
Prior to transferring to active duty, Doug married the love of his life Penny Chandler on November 5th, 1983. They were married 40 years at the time of her passing. In December of 1983 Doug officially became active-duty Air Force and shortly thereafter was sent overseas to England. Penny soon joined him and they remained there for 3 years before coming back to the states, specifically California.
During his time in the military, Doug wore many hats. His day job in the service was loading and unloading the many different aircraft with cargo, but when he wasn’t at his day job he enjoyed working as a bartender and working on cars.
Doug was a jack-of-all-trades, master of none for his entire life.
Following his separation from military service in September 1991, he briefly worked as a semi-truck driver before accepting a job at Pendleton State Penitentiary as a prison guard for 10 years. During his time at Pendleton he was a Union Steward with a very high success rate.
Doug is survived by his daughter Amanda M. Keller, as well as his two older brothers Raymond and Brian Keller and their children. Daniel D. Ruede, Jonathan L. (Talia) Keller, Aaron P. (Alexis) Keller, Lindsey (Aaron M.) Urbain. Also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Penny Sue (Chandler) Keller, his son Christopher Justin Keller, as well as several other family members.
A celebration of life will be held at the Terre Haute First Church of the Nazarene, 801 Ft. Harrison Rd., Terre Haute, IN 47804, on Saturday April 4, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm with the ceremony at 1 pm.
