Dorothy Maxine Houser

Dorothy Maxine Houser, 85, of Homewood, Illinois formerly of Terre Haute died Thursday February 25, 2016, Franciscan St. James Health Care Center at Chicago Heights, Illinois. She was born April 6, 1930, in Terre Haute to Ralph Henry Britton and Ladonna Maude Spencer Britton. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Michael W. Houser (Rose), Stephen R. Houser (Helen), all of Terre Haute, Stanley J. Houser (Diane), Robert "Andy" Houser (Pamela) all of Peotone, Illinois, and Joseph B. Houser (Barbara) of Park Forest, Illinois; three grandsons Clay Andrew Houser, Russel Alan Houser, and Robert Blake Houser; a sister, Margaret Hughes of Terre Haute; a brother Phillip Britton of Terre Haute; a sister-in-law, Patricia Chrisman of West Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert A. Houser; two sons, infant Robert A. Houser and Bruce A. Houser; a sister, Emma May; and two sisters-in-law Rosemary Walker and Irene Johnson. Dorothy married Robert Anthony Houser on March 20, 1948. Together, they worked side by side for many years, and she was an integral part of her husband's success throughout his career. The family moved to Wyoming in 1965, then Colorado, Canada, and finally settled in Homewood, Illinois in 1976. She resided in Homewood for nearly forty years. She had very close relationships with her friends and neighbors, Vera, Valerie, Willis, Catherine and Marge. Funeral services for Dorothy will be 12:00 noon Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute with Pastor David Ward officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Friends and Family will gather at the Valley Grill Restaurant, 2170 N. 3rd St., Terre Haute following the services for a memorial meal and fellowship and continue to celebrate Dorothy's Life.
