Donald Lee "Chum" Whitaker

Donald Lee “Chum” Whitaker, 60 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026. He was born in Flint, Michigan on October 2, 1966 to Ralph Whitaker, Sr. and Neller E. Pegg Whitaker.

Chum was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of West Terre Haute American Legion Post # 501, West Terre Haute VFW Post # 6574, and the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club.

Chum is survived by his siblings; Gary Pegg (Beverly), Robert Richey, Loretta Jones (Chuck), Mildred Whitaker, and Ralph Whitaker, Jr. (Karen), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister, Joann Richey.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Buddy White officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to his family to help with funeral expenses.
