Darrell Dean Savant, 80 of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Vigo County on March 15, 1945 to Dominic Savant and Sylvia Bercaw Savant.
Darrell was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was employed as a welder at Winslow Scales and J.I. Case, and was a member of VFW Post # 972 and the Elm Grove Bar.
Darrell is survived by his son Jason Savant, daughter Penny Polk, and his grandchildren; Logan Savant, Wyatt Savant, Charlee Savant, Vannie Savant, Dominic Savant, Michaela Reiber (Damon), Jalen Polk, Jordan Polk, and Desiree, as well as a great granddaughter, Brylee Reiber. He is also survived by his siblings; Carolyn Bridgewater, Ron Savant, Letitia Besherse, Oralee Pierce, and George Foster, his partner Beverly West, special friends Darlene Savant and Mike Harper, all the Neidlinger family from West Terre Haute, cousins Reba Endrijaites and Jeannette Wiggs, nephews Richard Bridgewater and Darren Besherse, and a nieces, Tammy Besherse. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Foster, as well as a son Troy Savant (and Myla).
In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen, with a Celebration of Life to be held at The Young Men’s Club in West Terre Haute, on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM, with Military Rites by The Vigo County Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home in West Terre Haute.
