Danny B. Hester of Marana, Arizona and formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away from complications from lymphoma on June 9, 2026 with his family at his side. He was 74 years old.

Danny was born on February 16, 1952, to Cecil and Opal Burklow Hester in Terre Haue, Indiana. He was the youngest, and biggest of three sons. He graduated from Wiley High School with a full ride scholarship to the University of Kansas to play football. While at Wiley, he met the love of his life, Susan Saikley Hester, whom he married on June 13, 1971.

Danny opened his own marketing agency and later developed an FM radio station.

Danny was a long-standing member of St George Orthodox Church in Terre Haute, and served in many capacities, including president of the Board, as well as participating in the church softball and basketball leagues.

Through the years while raising his family, Danny coached many kids through basketball and baseball leagues. He also enjoyed officiating and umpiring games as his children got older.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen. He is survived by his wife, who cared for all his needs until his passing. Children Livia and John Scott, Nick Hester (Jody) and Caroline Fields. Six grandchildren, Ian and Ella Scott, Layla Fields, Abigail, Nicholas and Joseph Hester. He is also survived by his brother Gary Hester (Ramona), sister-in-law Abbie Small (Jeff) and brother-in-law CR Saikley (Alexandra), as well as Godsons Jeff Sankey and Mark Yazge. Also survived by Fr. Anthony Yazge and family, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at St. George Orthodox Church, 1900 S. 4th St., Terre Haute, IN at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Fr. Habib Ghantous and the Very Reverend Fr. Anthony Yazge officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for those who desire to make a donation to St. George Orthodox Church, in Danny’s memory.
