Cynthia Gail Presnell

Cynthia “Cindy” Gail Presnell, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was born on May 29, 1954 to David and Kathleen McCormick in Terre Haute, Indiana.

 Cindy was a mother, a grandmother, a coach in the West Vigo community, and a friend to many. Cindy attended Sacred Heart, class of 1968, and Schulte High School, class of 1972, where she made life long friendships. She was a teacher’s aide at Sarah Scott Middle School for many years. Cindy took great pride in her work. She was widely known among students for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. Cindy loved to be outside at her country home. She spent time tending her flower garden and welcomed animals of all kinds to her porch. Cindy cherished spending time with family and friends and was fiercely loyal to those she loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a laugh that filled the whole room. She will be forever loved and dearly missed by all the lives she touched. 

Cindy is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Presnell, her son Matthew Presnell, her brother Michael McCormick, and her parents David and Kathleen McCormick. Cindy is survived by her daughters, Michele (Jacob) Franklin, Melissa Presnell, and son, Greg (Walda) Presnell. As well as her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Logan) Nees, Alec (Melissa) Weber, Leah Franklin, Caitlin Franklin, Rylie Strole, Charlie Rose Strole, Greyson Baker, and great grandchild, Lachlan Nees. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Turpen and brother David McCormick. 

A celebration of life for all of Cindy’s family, friends, and students will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana, on Monday, January 12, 2026 beginning at 6:00 pm with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until service time in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
