Charles David Garner

West Terre Haute

Charles David Garner, 79 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in his residence.  He was born in Clark County, IL on September 1, 1941 to Charles Garner and Lucille Binkley Garner.

Dave was an Air Force Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, frog gigging, and his cats, and was a member of West Terre Haute VFW Post # 6574.

Dave is survived by five children; William Etchison (Becky), Twyla Scott (Sanford), Mike Boerner (Susan), Carla Boerner, and Kevin Boerner, Sr. (Margaret West). He is also survived by a brother, John Garner, a sister, Virginia English, grandchildren Kevin Boerner, Jr., Kaylee Boerner, Kaitlynn Boerner, as well as several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife, Esther Garner, who passed away July 17, 2014; as well as his son, Charles D. Garner, Jr.

Honoring David’s wishes, a graveside service, with military honors,  will be held at South Vigo Congregational Cemetery (Black Cemetery) on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 1:00 PM.  Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until time of service at the cemetery. Pastor Dan Garner will be officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN.
