Bobby J. Matlock, 82 of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in his residence. He was born in Monroe County, IN on November 15, 1939 to George P. Matlock and Flossie Staley Matlock.
Bob was a devout Christian man and member of Family Worship Center in Brazil. He was a licensed clergy through World Harvest Ministry. He worked many years for A.R.A. Vending and was a member of Teamsters Local # 135 and was an avid bowler.
Bob is survived by his wife Sandy Banton Matlock whom he married July 27, 1959, and their two children; Danny Matlock (Tori), Renee Stuck Cockran (Mike), and a “adopted daughter” Patti Kern, as well as his grandchildren; Jeremy Deckard (Hillary), Andrew Deckard (Kim), Dustin Matlock (Brea), Cody Matlock (Amber), Brittany Stuck, Kayece Stuck (Daniel), Elizabeth Stuck, and Tabitha Cochran. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Tyler, Haley, Heather, Brittany, Abigail, Meghan, Addison, Ethan, Gabe, Lilly, Layla, Anna, Holdyn, and Henry as well as three great great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Marti Gadner (Ronnie), and a half-sister, Carolyn Bastin (Rick), and several other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father George Matlock, step-mother, Dorothy Matlock, mother, Flossie Elkins, step-father, Robert Elkins, daughter, Debbie Matlock Bartlett, grandson, Anthony Deckard, two sons-in-law, Michael Stuck and Rich Bartlett, his sister, Suzie Robertson, and his mother-in-law, Eula Hinsey.
Funeral services will be held at Family Worship Center, 8157 N. County Road 425 West, Brazil, IN on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12 Noon, with Pastor Larry Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN, and on Monday from 11:00 AM until service time in the church. The family would like to thank Regional Hospital’s nurses and staff, as well as Dr. Gaurav, Dr. Mendoza, Dr. Esper, and Southern Care Hospice.
