Betty Ruth (Sloniker) Thompson

Terre Haute

Betty Ruth Thompson, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:23 AM at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  She was born in Terre Haute on July 18, 1932 to Phillip Sloniker and Eva Marie McClure Sloniker.

Betty was a long-time member of the First Church of the Nazarene, she was devoted to the church and loved Gospel Music, and was a member of the Christian Women’s Society, and retired from Pfizer as a Control Room Operator.  Betty was giving, kind and loved by many.

Betty is survived by three children; Carol Evans (Dave), William Thompson, and Elizabeth Newton (Mike), as well as four grandchildren; Michael Walls, Ashton Newton, Justin Newton, Billy Thompson, and one great grandchild, Lukas Michael Walls.  She also leaves behind her siblings; Thelma Anderson, Eldon Sloniker, and Janice Tingley, and several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Joann Henry, Donald Sloniker, and Phyllis Sloniker, and former husband Bill Thompson.

Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 801 Ft. Harrison Road, Terre Haute, IN 47804 on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Larry Mathias and Pastor Denny Wilson officiating.  Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Thursday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN.
